Home Study Training Requirements

As part of your home study process, all pre-adoptive families are required to complete six (6) training courses. You are welcome to complete additional courses beyond the required six if you would like further education. All families must complete training on prenatal substance exposure, transracial adoption, open adoption, and adopting after infertility. 

Required Courses (4): 

  1. Introduction to Prenatal Substance Exposure 
  2. Should You Consider Adopting a Child of a Different Race or Ethnicity? 
  3. What You Need to Know about Open Adoption When Thinking About Adopting 
  4. Coming to Terms with Infertility Grief Before Fostering or Adopting 


Elective Courses (2): 

You may choose two additional courses based on your interests and learning goals. 

Important Requirements: 

  • Both pre-adoptive parents must complete all required courses. 
  • Certificates of completion must be uploaded to the Client Portal once training is finished.
