What do adoptive, foster, and kinship parents need to know about the impacts of prenatal exposure to opioids? What are the risks to a baby born with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome or Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (NOWS)? In this course we will cover the short and long term impacts of opioids and opioid-use treatment medication, such as Buprenorphine, methadone, and Suboxone. The instructor is Dr. Jennifer McAllister, the Medical Director of the NOWS Follow-Up Clinic at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the Medical Director of the University of Cincinnati Newborn Nursery.

- Summarize the in-hospital treatments available for infants born with prenatal exposure to opioids or opioid-use medications.
