In this course we discuss the special issues parents should consider when combining children by birth and adoption. We provide tips for parents when the adopted child comes after birth children and when the birth children come after the adopted child. Our course expert is Rebecca Ricardo, an LCSW who has worked in the field of adoption since 1991. She currently serves as an Executive Director for a licensed, child-placing agency that provides both placement and support services. She is an adoptee and the birth mom. The son she placed for adoption was raised as the only adopted child between two children born to his adoptive parents.

This course covers the following learning objectives:

  • List 3 common scenarios of how families come to blend children by birth and adoption.
  • List 3 tips for when the family adopts after they have had biological children.
  • List the top concern of adopted children if their parents get pregnant after their adoption?
