Creating a Family has been the most valuable resource I have found as I parent my two adopted children. It is my go-to for all adoption-related issues and one of the resources I use in my work with prospective adoptive parents as an adoption social worker. Thank you for continuing to be a support and resource to our community!
Course: Basic Baby Care
Power packed! Full to the brim with useable information.
Course: Talking with Young Children About Adoption and Birth Parents
All of the information provided in this course is well thought out and helpful. They spoke about specific topics/questions that I had and now I feel like I have a much better idea of how to answer these questions when they come up.
Course: What You Need to Know About Open Adoption When You're Thinking About Adopting
This course was great to cover the things that you as an adoptive parent will not think about, simply because you have not experienced it. It was interesting to hear the perspectives from the adopted child and birth mother, and hearing them caused my partner and I to begin to think about some things we had not yet considered. Definitely a good listen.
This course, and all of the additional courses I have taken through this program so far, are so very eye opening and enlightening. I am sure we all like to think of ourselves as great parents, however, if you are being honest with yourself, there is always plenty of room for improvement. These courses have not only opened our eyes to the things we are not doing well and can use plenty of improvement on, but they have also opened our eyes to our own childhood experiences and trauma we suffered from the very parenting techniques we are currently using. I encourage fellow parents to not only listen, but to also put what you learn from these courses into practice…I hope you all find as much enjoyment in these courses as we have. Happy Parenting!
