In this course we will talk about how to help children and youth transition from foster care to an adoptive placement. The instructors will be Hope Middlebrook, a foster parent recruiter for Arrow Child and Family Services, and Jennifer O’Brien, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Regional Director for Arrow’s Foster Care Programs.

This course covers the following learning objectives:

  • Explain the common emotions a child might feel (both positive and negative) when transitioning from foster care to adoption.
  • Describe the ideal process of what a transition might look like.
  • Describe some typical emotions and behaviors you might see from other children already living in your home when a new child moves in?
  • Explain what a Lifebook is and why it is important to a foster child.
