The Training

This evidence-based, trauma-informed training helps child welfare staff recognize the signs and symptoms of prenatal substance exposure and trains them on techniques that work best with kids exposed prenatally to alcohol and drugs. Each 2-hour interactive session is held on Zoom. We are able to offer this free training through the support of the Jockey Being Family®Foundation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize the prevalence of prenatal substance exposure, including among children in the child welfare system.
  2. Recognize the impacts of prenatal substance exposure on placement stability.
  3. Identify primary, secondary, and tertiary symptoms of prenatal substance exposure.
  4. Locate resources for supporting prenatally exposed children and their families.
  5. Identify strategies to support common symptoms in children from infancy to young adulthood.
  6. Identify steps and resources for supporting families in transitioning a prenatally exposed teen into adulthood.
