Co-Parenting
in Foster Care
How to establish a healthy co-parenting relationship
with your foster child’s birth parents.
More and more foster care agencies are shifting to a co-parenting model, but for many foster parents, co-parenting seems counterintuitive, or even wrong. This toolkit, which includes a video, facilitator guide, handouts, and resource guide, looks at what co-parenting (or shared parenting) is and why it can be a beneficial tool for helping families heal and be reunited. We also provide some concrete tips on how to establish a healthy co-parenting relationship with your foster child’s birth parents.
This toolkit is valid for one year for use by one agency/organization for up to two groups. “Group” is defined as parents working with the same agency or members of the same parent organization. If you need to use any toolkit for more than two groups, please contact us to discuss how we can meet your needs.
